It's not easy to make a living from art. We need to train a lot, focus on a purpose that is for the long term. Of course we don't know if it will work out if we don't try. Many give up halfway because the work is hard and often tiring, especially when we are in the training phase and we still don't have an audience interested in our work. That is why it is essential to strive and struggle to achieve the objective, which, in my case, is to live by illustration.
When I joined Panamericana to study Graphic Design, I had specific focuses: improving my knowledge in the area and continuing my learning in web design, since it was because of my passion for the web that I began to be interested in design — about 13 years ago. I had countless blogs, did the layout design and code from scratch on my own, and I had learned everything myself. I loved what I did. I still love working with the web, but still, at that time, I felt that something was missing.
When I started the course in 2013, I came across several areas of Design that I could try and that interested me a lot. Illustration attracted me the most, because I really liked to draw as a child. In the first months of the course, we started training light and shadow, perspective, vector, etc. and that took me straight to childhood, to the art classes we had at school. At that moment, I even regretted not having enjoyed those classes anymore! At least I enjoyed the course a lot.
Web design was a hobby for me in pre-adolescence just like drawing was in childhood.
From then on I spent a year drawing and training light and shade, a bit of digital painting too... It was wonderful. I learned and grew a lot. I received a lot of praise and encouragement, in fact, especially in my cover work for the magazine Piauí:

In 2014, the second and final year of the course, we focused more on promotional, editorial, visual identity and packaging design. I loved visual identity and editorial design! I even did very well making logos for crowdsourcing sites. Ah! And the magazine and newspaper What I did for the course were really cool too:

This also reminds me of Personal project I did this year inspired by the poems I used to write:

Today, at work, my focus is on the web and visual identity. In my spare time I continue to train illustration, because I want to work with concept art in the future. I have an enormous interest in concept art for games! I look at those incredible arts and think: “one day I'll get there too”. And I know that when we have a dream and fight for it, we have a great chance of achieving our goal.
I made all this introduction to explain the purpose of this new blog: to post my illustrations, to show the development and progress in the area; to talk about this wonderful passion; to exchange ideas and tips with anyone who wants and is also interested.
Everyone who wants to follow the process is welcome!
