A bit of creating a logo for a crowdsourcing project that I participated in.

Remember I had to make a post about this logo? Well it is! Here it goes!

So, this was a project that I participated in CrowdSpring, a site of Crowdsourcing, where companies post what they need: logo, naming, website, etc., they say how much they want to pay and several registered designers submit their work. The good thing is that you can choose from any project you want to participate in. At the end of the deadline stipulated by the client, he chooses a design, the person sends the art files and then receives the price of the project. Over time you gain a better reputation too and with this you can participate in Platinum projects!

That was a Platinum project. It's a shame that, although the client - and the site's design consultant who was helping the client - said that they loved the design, they ended up choosing another one, but that's okay, it's part of it. Don't let that get you down, see? There are many designers participating in the same project! Hahaha. Participating in these projects is always good both for training and for the possibility of being able to earn extra. I have already won in two projects... not to mention that the work is yours and if it is not chosen you can sell it to someone else who is interested - which reminds me, if you are interested in buying, please contact us hahaha.

Well, let's get back to my sketch!

That's the initial sketch that I had done. There's a positive/negative game: you can see the shapes of a fish on the dragon's inner contour:)
Here is the first vectorized version. Although it wasn't exactly what the client wanted, I found it interesting and decided to send it too, just in case.

Before moving on, I will explain more details about the company in question. They work with the exploration and production of oil and gas. The customer wanted a logo that well represented a new gas well that they were going to produce, the Seadragon. For the logo, they wanted something involving water, fire (gas), “Poseidon elements”, etc. For the fountain they wanted to use only the Gotham.

‍ I decided to gradually adapt my design to what the client wanted: a dragon, “Poseidon elements” (in this case I decided to add the trident because, of course, it is the one that most reminds of Poseidon, haha), water, etc. It started to get more interesting and the customer really liked it and asked me to add fire coming out of the dragon's mouth.
‍ After sending a few different flame styles, the customer liked this version better — it's my favorite too, hehe. I even thought about making an open-mouthed version of the dragon and the client ended up asking me for this as an extra option as well. And so I did.
‍ And here's the version with the open-mouthed dragon and the customer liked it a lot too. As I ended up liking them both, I decided to add both to my portfolio:)

If you want to see more information and images about this project, you can check it out on my Behance.

The cool thing about this logo is that it could be used in a variety of ways! I wonder how interesting it would look on a tattoo, don't you think?

Well, that's it. I hope you enjoyed it!

When I have more time, I'll post other logos I made here for you to see the creation process as well.
