This week I made a fan art of Jessica Jones in ink and watercolor and a sketch of the Pokémon Milotic - which is one of my favorites and, because it is one of my favorite Pokémon, I am looking to make a perfect sketch and then make a colored version (possibly digital, we'll see), haha! So, shall we go to the drawings?
Oh, yes! I forgot to tell you about the “mess”, hahaha. I did this just to play around, testing color blending and everything else. I took a free course at EduK last weekend that was very good, so I was training because of that:)
I started with a simple sketch by Krysten Ritter. The idea was to make it look like her, but not to the point of being realistic.
I decided to contour with ink - the hair looked really cool, I ended up following the lines I made on the pencil to give it a movement and left some white areas to simulate shine.
I used violet tones (acquired from the mix of red and blue) for the face to remind a bit of the visual identity of the series (and, of course, Purple Man, huheue). I even thought about making a background with buildings, houses, etc. in cooler tones... who knows, hehe.
Finished drawing:)
Milotic quick sketch in the sketchbook.
I gradually detailed them—mountains in the background, waves, clouds, etc.—but I still wasn't happy, because I wanted to give Milotic more movement.
That's why I decided... I don't know the name of this thing that he has in his head just above his eyes, but it looks like hair, hahahaha (on some sites they say it's a “membrane that resembles hair”) anyway, I designed it so that it was in motion XD
Still not so 100% happy, I modified the tail, both to give movement and to correct, because the old version was very “straight” and his tail is thinner and much freer.
Well, that's it for today!
I'm still thinking hard about how to paint this Milotic, hahaha. I really want to go back to digital painting, but I will also continue with watercolor paintings, because I love it so much... Maybe I'll make a watercolor version and a digital version of this drawing? I don't know... it will depend on the weather... and for now I want to keep looking at it and correct everything I can to make this drawing magnificent, because Milotic is my favorite Pokémon <3
