Telling stories with digital characters in Procreate.

I did two really cool art on Procreate this week! I wish I had done something traditional too, but there wasn't time, haha. Sorry. Next week, maybe? :)

Both arts were slightly different studies and tests - a different perspective, more forced and another looser, without reference, to let go of one's hand.

I did the initial sketch in shades of gray — I ended up not taking a picture, but that's the method I'm following at the moment: do everything in shades of gray and then paint over it. I use Procreate's Color Balance tool a lot when painting to choose some initial tones and then I'll paint over the top. It's very cool to do this, especially to define the light and shadow values of your painting well. In some cases I paint straight as well, without shades of gray. The important thing is to test everything you can and choose which digital method is best for you.
Finished painting. I really liked the result. I gave the name of Eudora because it reminds me of a nereid from Greek mythology, haha.
Second sketch of the week — this one was even looser, with ideas that came to mind and I drew, hehe.
I like to do elaborate, messy sketches, and then gradually define light and shadow, in addition to merging some lines as well, painting over again to create even more contrast and so on.

In fact, the way in which I paint my drawings on digital is very similar to the way I paint in the traditional one as well. I usually always start with a loose, messy idea, and I gradually polish it up until I reach the level of light and shade, contrast, etc. that I want.

I decided to keep the effect monochrome, but in a more sepia tone.
Finished painting. I gave the name of Remembrance — which means memory, memory... that's why I decided on the sepia tone. She sees that ring, Memento and remembers something important, a distant memory... someone.

I really like to create stories and characters, so whenever possible I have to explore a narrative, something simple that attracts in my paintings. I think it's very important to captivate those who see your work, to draw attention to details - whether cute, simple or not, perhaps sadder and/or more violent (haha).

I believe that there is nothing cooler for those who like to draw/paint than having the opportunity to tell stories with their paintings. This is something you develop little by little and it's a lot of fun to do.

Keep drawing!
