First week of Inktober was extremely productive for me! Very happy to return with everything like that, haha. Inktober arrived in good time <3 :)
The theme of the first day was Ring (ring). I used black, white, and gold ink pens to add extra sparkle to my eyes.
In fact, in this Inktober I am choosing more contrasting art, such as black x white, black x gold and/or silver, etc.
Finished art. This idea is a girl going through a ring of “special effects” that reconstitute her, transform her :)
For day 2, Mindless, I opted for something more conceptual too: an “irrational” girl, devoid of a mind, finally receiving a mind for herself. I even thought of (hehe, ironic) a short text to describe the moment:
Fear not, O Mindless One, for you shall have soon a Mind of your own.
Translated, it means “Do not be afraid, O The Mindless One, for you will soon have a Mind of your own”. The idea is to place more emphasis on the character and depth on the concept as a whole.
I used gold and silver pens on that one too. This time, some gold details and silver eyes. I wrapped a black line around the gold background to make it better visible - to reinforce the golden effect on the Kraft paper.
Finished art.
For day 3, Bait, I opted for something cute — and a bit sad, hahaha.
I also explored a lot here the use of the black background (my hand struggled to paint all this, but it was for a good cause, haha) + colored pens — silver and gold.
The finished art. This idea is a poor worm dying of fear of being bait for hungry fish. Haha. Poor thing, I know.
Day 4, Freeze. I chose to make an ice creature with... silver eyes. In this case it was really loose.
I took the opportunity to explore the use of white on the tips to give a “frozen” effect, something I believe I had never done before in any other art in Nanking. It was really fun and gave the effect I wanted :)
I am loving using the silver pen from Sakura (Gelly Roll) that I bought in NYC and the gold one I already had (UniPoSCA) to emphasize some details. In the case of this art I used only the silver one anyway... I think. Maybe he used it on some of the bright spots there. I don't remember. I got carried away... I always get carried away, hahaha.
Finished art.
On the 5th, Build, I decided to “build” a castle. The drawing was inspired by the castle of Neuschwanstein which is in Germany. I found some photos of him while searching for references, I thought it was too beautiful and decided to be inspired by him... and I don't need to mention that it took me all Saturday to finish this drawing, right? I think you can tell by the countless lines here and there. Hahaha.
Whenever I search for a reference, I tend to use only inspiration to create something in my style, in my own way. When I was younger and when I was starting out, I used to copy entire photos to study (which I still highly recommend for those who are just starting out). It's a great way to study and learn more), but nowadays for me it's just for reference, unless it's something totally new and that I've never designed and I need to study/learn more :)
Oh, I'm also using a black UniposCA (0.7mm PC-1MR) to cover darker areas (as is the case over the trees in the foreground). The rest is the same as always: black Pigma Micron pens (generally 005 and/or 01, sometimes 03 for some larger areas, although mine is already half worn out, which reminds me that I need to buy a new one, haha), white UniPoSCA (PC-1MR also 0.7 mm). At the end of the post I give a complete list of the material I used for these drawings.
NOTE: I don't usually comment so much on posts about the materials I use because I hardly change material, it's always the same and I usually comment only when there's something new, but this time (and for future posts), I'll always make a list at the end of the post to make it easier... not least because there must be people who are reading about my adventures for the first time and don't follow the blog so much, right? :p
In this case, I used only black Pigma Micron (as mentioned above), in addition to the black UniPOSCA for darker areas and UniPOSCA white for the highlights.
Finished art.
For the 6th, Husky, I chose to draw a... Husky. Haha. Husky in English can also mean someone with a sexy, or husky voice... but I opted for the cuddly Husky because I had never drawn a Husky, haha. I've designed other dogs in those years, but never a Husky, so I jumped at the opportunity. Husky, Husky, Husky <3
In this one I also opted for Pigma Micron black, UniPOSCA black for darker areas and UniPOSCA white for highlights. I only used the silver pen for his eyes :)
Finished art. This one's idea is a tired Husky because he enjoyed the Halloween party a lot. He notices that the pumpkin is shining strangely, but he decides to do nothing because he's a dog and he's tired. Hahaha.
And that's it for today, guys. Thank you for following the blog and I hope you enjoyed the tips and drawings. Oops, I didn't forget the list of materials used no! Follow:)
Sakura Pigma Micron 01 - One of the main ones I use, both for areas with little shade and for areas with more shadows;
Sakura Pigma Micron 005 - Also one of the main ones. I use more for areas with little shade and/or details where I need to be very careful not to darken too much - I use enough to make smooth lines and increase shading as needed;
Sakura Pigma Micron 03 - to fill darker and/or purely black areas;
UnipoSCA PC-1MR black(0.7mm, pin type) - to fill in darker and/or purely black areas as well. Use for reinforcement;
UnipoSCA PC-1MR white(0.7mm, pin type) - for lighting areas, and/or reinforcing glows in the design;
UnipoSCA PC-1M gold(0.7mm, bullet shaped) - what I want to decorate for and make it golden;
Sakura Gelly Roll silver - what I want to give a silver sheen to. In fact, I also have a gold one from this brand.
Now that's it for today, haha. A great Inktober to you and don't forget to give a Like There on the page no Facebook, or maybe subscribe to Newsletter to receive the latest updates (and exclusive discounts) at Loja, see?) or follow on Instagram ;) Have an inspired week! <3
