This week I was more into sketches, releasing some ideas on the paper that I intend to use in the future for digital paintings and, perhaps, for other studies.
This was the only one more focused on studying. The idea is not to be perfect, the idea is to study movement, to bring a little more expression to my drawings. It's like a gestural design study, but more detailed, you know? I always try to study in the way that I feel most comfortable and that I feel that I will learn more. That's usually when my best ideas come up, haha.
It's not always good to follow something you've been taught exactly. Sometimes that particular method isn't for you. I noticed, on many occasions, that I learned much more seeking to incorporate what I was taught into something that I feel comfortable doing. We all have a different creation process that must be cultivated (as I mentioned in this post here), but never stop going further. Don't be left alone in the comfort zone, always take risks! You'll be surprised at yourself.
This one started from the idea of creating something loose, without reference. From time to time I like to create something without reference to see what I can already do. I highly recommend doing, whenever possible and that you feel comfortable, a drawing without reference to something that you usually draw frequently. It helps you identify where you need to improve the most. This works quite well with elements that you don't usually draw often either. Don't worry if it doesn't look perfect, haha, it's normal. Little by little, your mind memorizes incredible elements through the references you study, and it's in those moments that you discover things you didn't even know you could do. Don't get frustrated at the first attempts. Study LOTS of references and then play drawing without reference from time to time;)
Another loose sketch.
In this one I tried to do something in my style, but also different, purposely disproportionate in some elements - such as the eye and the body - to bring a little more expression and emotion to the drawing. I tried to incorporate a bit of hype.
I hope that the tips I gave in this post can help you improve your drawings. In fact, I recommend that you also read my post about tips from ICONIC. Surely they will help you too.
