This week I made some simpler drawings, all in my sketchbook even included, but always playing and training more colors. I also need to focus more on drawing other parts of the body, such as hands, feet, etc. to train... who knows some compositions that involve only some parts of the body? Well, it's for the next one. There's no shortage of ideas!
In fact, before we went to the cartoons... I changed some things on the blog... for a change, hahaha — for those who already know me, before creating this blog I had another one, Vulnera, and at the time what I loved to do the most was to change the layout. I loved creating new layouts, from design to code! It was practically one a week, almost, hahaha. But it was great, because it helped me realize that Graphic Design was my passion. Today, because of the rush, I only changed simpler things, such as the style of the images in Sidebar, the header (which now has a new image and when you open a specific post, the featured image of the post appears)... finally... Let's get to the drawings!
This watercolor and ink drawing was done very quickly to train and play around a bit. I did a sketch before, of course (which, in fact, I even thought it looked better than the final version, haha, too bad I ended up forgetting to take a picture!) , then I outlined it with ink and painted it with watercolor.
I should also create a series of posts with bizarre designs. That would be one of them, hahaha. Nankin and colored pencils, by the way.
The next one was the one I worked the most for the week. I painted with colored pencils. I'm going to show you a little bit of the process!
I started with a sketch inspired by a referral. As you can see, I was even going to draw her hands, but since (I confess, haha), I have a bit of trouble drawing hands, I ended up leaving it aside later and doing something different. In fact, I even looked for some references that might be similar to this position to try to at least draw the hands without the gloves, but I couldn't find... In the reference, they were hands wearing lace gloves, very detailed. I think that for me, since I still don't have as much practice and confidence in drawing mega-detailed hands, it pays more to train them separately and then risk something more difficult. It's through training that we got there, isn't it?
Seeing what we have the most difficulty with and then trying to improve that difficulty little by little is what makes us better designers every day.
So, as you can see, I already decided to dye my face, hair, etc. (because I was so excited, haha) and I left it to see what I would do with her hands afterwards. I only used colored pencils on that... red pencil for the mouth, a little orange for the eye shadow, black for the hair, and shades of pink and brown for the face.
Some more images of the details. I also used a bit of dark brown for darker areas starting around the neck. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I outlined the entire drawing with the black pencil, which gave an interesting effect.
One thing I really like about Moleskine sketchbooks, besides the great paper, of course, is that it “opens well”, so that we can draw quietly on the two sheets. You probably already have a cheaper sketchbook that does this, haha, but I only buy Moleskine because I love the quality of the paper. It's expensive, but it's a lot of love <3
The pencils I used and I already have details of the changes I made to the drawing. Instead of drawing her hands, I decided to draw her back with a dress (which I invented right away, haha). It was also cool to study.
Finished drawing.
There are always things to improve, there are always new things to learn. The important thing is to identify our weaknesses and work on them. Some time ago I didn't even draw colored drawings, they were all in pencils, training only light and shadow (which gave me confidence, of course, to do what I do today). I was really afraid of not being able to achieve an acceptable result. Today, seeing what I can already do and seeing what I can improve, I feel more confident and I'm going to play completely getting better every day. Now it's time to continue working with colors and improving the details, working on more proportion... etc. And let's go!
