Tips

I've been very busy with a logo project that I'm doing, so I ended up drawing a little this week — we need to work to pay the bills, right? haha — I'm going to share its sketch with you, although the final version is quite different, but I'll leave it to talk more about the process in a future post.

Well, let's get to the drawing of the week first!

I was there in the car going to solve an issue with my mother and then suddenly the idea came to me to make this drawing. I wanted to run back home because I was without my sketchbook to at least make a basic sketch of the idea so I wouldn't forget, hahah... although even if I had my sketchbook in my hand in the car it would be very difficult for me to draw because I have a hard time reading/writing inside the car. Yes, it's called kinetosis and it's pretty annoying): ‍

The idea of the drawing was basically a female face with inscriptions on the side (something that reminded me after I made a “futuristic barcode”, hahaha) and the area with nothing with an explosion of colors in watercolor — that's why I named it Blast of Colors to the drawing. He even ended up giving an idea for a character - imagine how cool a game where you're a cyborg trained to kill, style Hitman But with cyborgs and being a woman, and each one had an inscription/barcode like the one I made in the drawing? It could be interesting... if it doesn't exist anymore, right? You'll know, hahaha.

Already with the idea well stamped on my head, I outlined the lines with ink and added some details to the neck and everything else, keeping the area white for the watercolor. I confess that I was afraid of exaggerating when painting with watercolor and ending up not coming out as cool as I would like, but the result was interesting. It always gives us that fear when we are happy when we make almost perfect outlines, hahahaha. I'm trying to make much cleaner sketches nowadays to also get rid of the old custom when I drew only with pencils and I was already making light and shadow — in these new ones I want to leave light and shadow for later when it's time to color. In the case of this design, the initial idea was to be something simple, without much shade or anything, hence the concern to circumvent as best as possible... not to mention that it is great for training and getting used to. So far, so good.
‍ Another photo for you to see how cool the outlines were, heheheh <3
‍ Before mixing directly into the drawing, I tried out some ideas and possibilities on a separate piece of paper so as not to run the risk of affecting the drawing later... until then I decided to go crazy and do some dirty work here and it was worth it, hahahaha. I let it slip, I messed everything up... I tried to put into practice the things I learned so far and I really liked the result. It's not perfect, of course, but it was a lot of fun!
‍ Finished:)
That's the initial sketch I had done for the logo. There's a joke about Gestalt: the shapes of a fish in the inner outline of the dragon I reused the drawing later to make another much cooler version, even... but that's a topic for a next post! Wait;)

Those who follow my Facebook page already have an idea of the new version of the logo. Whoever wants to see, click here.

‍ Oh, I added some more art to my Society6 store, including today's one. For those interested, here is the link: society6.com/nighttime

Well, guys, that's it for today. Although I am making fewer drawings than before, I am able to take advantage of the moment to better plan the drawings I am making, which has helped to improve the creation process. Nothing better than thinking well (really!) rather than doing anything direct. Of course it's a delight, when you have time, to be able to let go and draw whatever comes to mind at that moment - something that I encourage whenever I can, even... but reflecting carefully on the composition you are about to make ends up avoiding mistakes that are often silly when we don't plan beforehand. So here's the tip. Always jot down and sketch your ideas. ALWAYS!

Have a great weekend full of creativity to you! <3
