This week I decided to finish one of the drawings that I had started in October - and I ended up leaving it to finish later because of Inktober, hehe and I made another one too. I continue to explore the technique of making the entire drawing in shades of gray and then painting on top.

Where I had left off.
I decided to explore some different colors, painting on top and using some layers of effects, color balance, etc. I ended up following a different path than planned, even. It was supposed to be cuter than dark, hahaha!
I was even wondering which version I liked the most - the one with the normal face or with the brand - I ended up opting for the brand.
Finished drawing.

Unfortunately I didn't save the time-lapse of this drawing because it didn't record everything... I imagine it was because the automatic videos that Procreate records must remain in the system for some time and then they are deleted. The recording started with the part where I was already painting instead of picking up from the initial sketch.

The game over there with the greenish eye was a cutout of the drawing I made of the skull and applied it, repainting it over the top. It was really fun and ended up giving a different result than what I usually do, hehe. I gave the name of this painting of Absynthe (absinthe) because of the greenish tone and because I always wanted to give the name Absynthe to something (hahaha, seriously).

Sketch of the other painting I did this week.
I decided to darken the gray tones I made a little more to give more contrast.
And I started painting little by little.
When I work with shades of gray and paint on top, I love to explore different shades to get what I want. Something very fun to do and you can learn a lot, even.
Finished painting. Check out the time-lapse below, it was really cool;)

I confess that I still prefer to paint directly, but playing with shades of gray and then painting has been a good way to train as well. I notice that I can create a better contrast by doing a previous study in shades of gray than by painting directly. It's always good to try different techniques, because we learned a lot with each one and created our own later - our way and style of painting.

That goes for both traditional and digital design, you know? It doesn't matter how you draw a picture: it matters how you like to do your drawing.

Thank you for following along and I wish you a great week!

PS: Don't forget to check out the Store! I added several original drawings ;)
