Hello, everyone! :)

This week I decided to continue studying anatomy, composition... already at coursework What I'm doing on Udemy, I'm studying perspective — eventually I want to create something of my own using perspective and then I'll show it to you, hehehe.

In fact, I confess that I have never been much of a fan of technical drawing. I even studied as a child and I always found it so forced that I never really wanted to. Today, of course, I understand the need to learn the skill and that eventually you will need to use it (perspective, grid, etc.). What really bothers me is the need to get attached to something. I always liked to have freedom when creating, always, since I was a child... but they are necessary evils, hehe.

Well, let's get to the drawings!

Since I hadn't trained in colors for a while, I decided to paint this one with watercolor pencils. I did a quick sketch (without reference). In fact, I can't wait to buy Faber Castell's pastel pencils (here). They have great pigmentation, which makes it easy to mix colors and everything else, hahaha. I can't wait to buy one. It's expensive, but it's worth it!
I wanted to make another mermaid, but this time more detailed and with a cooler and more defined composition than Another that I had done. It even took me about 2, 3 days to get it the way I wanted it - or almost there, hahaha. I'm never satisfied with my designs, I always want to go further... but I believe that's good, precisely because it's what motivates us to improve more and more (never lose that feeling).
Since she is underwater, I made her hair as if it were floating. The tail was the most time-consuming part, precisely because it was composed of several interspersed semicircles. A great exercise to train patience - those who draw must have a lot, hahaha ;)
After finishing the tail, I decided to work more on shading the drawing.
Although I'm still not 100% happy (as always, hahaha) with the background details, I liked the effect I created on the rocks with the shading. I kept the background white to create a contrast between the mermaid and the background itself, so that the eyes of those who see the drawing focus mainly on what is in the middle. I even thought about darkening the background a bit and creating light rays from behind (maybe I'll do it eventually), but for now it'll be like this, hehe, not least because if I do that, I'll have to darken the mermaid even more to maintain the contrast, and the initial idea is to make the entire composition softer.
This doodle began with a joke while I was listening to the ICONIC podcast (Cast icons) and it became an interesting composition that sums up my style well. In fact, I highly recommend listening to podcasts while you draw, especially in the style of ICONIC, which is very informal, that quiet chat where you learn a lot, while focusing on a loose drawing, without reference, just to train and let go of your hand.

Anyway, that's it for today, friends. There will be more next week :)
