I don't like to draw hands very much and, precisely because of this, I have been “incorporating hands” whenever possible into my drawings to change that, haha. And it's helping, by the way. Gradually. The difficulty comes up and I seek to challenge it and learn from it.
Sometimes I get people asking me how I draw or saying “I wanted to draw like this”, “what material do you use” and so on. The truth is that if we don't make an effort, try to give time to study drawing and everything else, it's really hard to learn. What I learned to date was out of desire, yearning to be an illustrator. Of course, I had a certain advantage in the past — I studied at a bilingual/bicultural school and one of the subjects was technical drawing. I confess that today I think about how much I would like to have enjoyed more at the time, but I never imagined that one day this crazy desire to be an illustrator would emerge.
Anyway, enough about removing the past. It's already turning into material for another post! Let's go to the drawings of the week, hahaha.
A quick sketch based on a photo, using that Cretacolor pencil that I mentioned on Past post. Lately I don't seek to achieve “realism” in my drawings anymore. In the past, yes, when I started (and I highly recommend it to those who are starting to train a lot with photos). Today I like to base myself more on something, to use it as inspiration, to create something in my own way, in my style.
A short sketch of an elf (yes, I love elves, haha) that I decided to paint with two pastel pencils that I bought (and which I commented on Post previous as well). Since I bought a brown and a pink one, I used it for skin tones. They're wonderful, haha.
Oh, um Pause to remember that: it's not the material that makes the design beautiful. That's you, see? With the skills you acquire with each drawing you make.
Yes, don't get attached to the material. Nowadays I already want to use better materials, but it's because I spent years and more years training with the cheap, until I acquired more experience and skill when using them, hahaha.
I really like to think about the colors I'm going to use before painting. I do this, too, already creating a line around each area, with the color that I will use. It's something that's part of my personality, but I believe it helps you to visualize it even when you're in doubt about color and everything else:) Cultivate your style! Hehe!
In some previous posts, I even commented on how I draw/paint hair. When I can, I intend to make a video explaining it better:) I like to use around 2 or three colors to create a bit of contrast, in this case I used red, yellow and orange. Always think of your hair as real locks, separating them between light and dark tones to add shine and volume.
That sketch started off messy, hahaha. I still wasn't completely sure what I wanted to do, so I explored the possibilities XD...
... until I finally came to an agreement with myself, haha. PS: I struggled to leave my hand in the best possible way I could, but it was worth the effort XD
Preparing everything to paint <3
As always, I love to draw hair, hahaha. In this case I used two different shades of purple and one more bluish purple, for the darker areas.
Finished drawing:)
And that's it for today, guys. There will be more next week, as always ;)
